Teacher Programs

We believe we can effectively reach a greater number of young people with the message of conservation by training teachers and adults in our field-based education programs. Our teacher programs provide trainings designed to aid teachers in taking their students from the classroom to the field to stimulate interest in learning about science and the natural world. We predict this field-based, hands-on approach and enthusiasm for learning will be passed on to their students. Consequently, we continue our long-term partnership with the Boone & Crockett Club to offer the unique field-based teacher education course, Conservation Across Boundaries®.

Conservation Across Boundaries®

Conservation Across Boundaries® is an innovative, graduate-level, college course for teachers. Its purpose is to enhance wildlife conservation by educating teachers about biology, ecology, and conservation issues unique to the coastal prairie and marsh ecosystems of southern Texas and the short-grass prairie and montane ecosystems of north central Montana.

Rangeland Conservation Education Curriculum

The Welder Wildlife Foundation has developed a field and lab based conservation education curriculum, which focuses on science and integrates social studies, language arts and math skills. The curriculum includes lessons on characteristics of rangelands, soil, water, plants, wildlife, ecology, and stewardship.  All core TEKS are documented with each activity, and lessons are inexpensive, easy to implement and use a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of all students. Please visit our Rangeland Curriculum page to learn more about workshops for teachers that are designed to introduce them to the curriculum.

Other Workshops

Throughout the year we host various species and management oriented workshops.  We also host Project WILD, Aquatic WILD, Flying WILD, Project Learning Tree, Leopold Education Project, and Rangeland workshops. Please check our home page, workshop page or calendar for upcoming programs and events.
