We are celebrating National Volunteer Week, because behind every act of kindness, lies the heart of a volunteer. They are the unsung heroes who selflessly give their time, skills, and compassion to make our programs better. Our volunteers have the remarkable ability to transform lives with their selfless acts of dedication. The creation of the Welder Fellowship Program traces back to the visionary guidance of Dr. Clarence Cottam, alongside the initial Trustees. Pioneering the program’s legacy, Dr. Thad Box emerged as its inaugural fellow, successfully concluding his fellowship journey in 1956 at Texas A&M University. Following that, he also earned his doctorate degree as a WWF fellow at TAMU. This milestone marked the program’s foundational step towards nurturing future leaders in the field. Goliad ISD joined Welder Wildlife Foundation for an unforgettable field day adventure! Students had the opportunity to dive into nature, learn, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Goliad ISD has been coming to us for over 10 years and we are proud to serve as a gateway for students to learn about the great outdoors. Thrilled to see teamwork in action as TAMU and TTU join forces for an exciting mission at Welder Wildlife Foundation! Efforts to capture turkeys were carried out over spring break as researchers are hoping to unlock valuable insights into wildlife conservation. Together, we’re making a difference!
